HISTORY

Bill, Bonnie & Daniel McDonald own and operate Bonjon Shepherd Ranch Training School.  In business since 1976, they have taught Obedience from Puppy through Advanced Competition levels.  In the winter of 1993 they added Agility, offering Intro level classes through Advanced Competition levels.  All Instructors have titled dogs through the most advanced levels and have 6 or more years in Agility, 10 or more years of obedience & animal behavior work.  In addition, two Instructors are trained specifically in the fine art of teaching so that your learning experience is optimum. (Please visit the Instructors page for their qualifications, pictures and biographies).

Classes and Additional Information

Conveniently scheduled classes and private lessons are taught outdoors on grass.  For current rates and schedules visit the Class Schedule page.  The north ring is lighted, 90’ x 100’ and largely shaded.  There are also two south rings, completely fenced for your dog’s safety & lighted (4 ft. vinyl covered chain link, 200’ x 100’). Obedience classes are taught up front in one of the secure rings.  All equipment meets standards for AKC & USDAA, is modern, well-maintained and is inspected and updated as needed to maintain the highest level of safety for you and your dog.  In addition, most of the UKC equipment is also available in the north ring.  In addition to the training areas there is also a spring fed lake in which you may swim your dog.  There are clean maintained restrooms adjacent to both agility areas and plenty of shade for your X-pens or crates.

Bonjon is the home of “Speedoggie Camp South”!  Past World Team Member & 2003 Steeplechase Winner, Chris Parker, brings her energy and insight to Bonjon in January for a learning and working experience second to none!  Be sure to sign up early for a working spot.

In addition, Bonjon also offers other Seminars and Camps throughout the year bringing in other top Competitors to share their secrets and techniques.  Working size is kept small to provide you with the best possible learning experience.  We are always open to suggestions for what types of seminars you’d like to attend as well as who you’d like a chance to train with.  Visit our upcoming Events and Seminar Page for more info on future offerings.

Bonjon Acres is a working Citrus Grove with plenty of space to exercise your dog and fresh fruit available to pick and eat many months of the year.  We do ask that you only pick what you personally will eat and not bag or carry excess quantities home with you.  Be sure to thoroughly wash any fruit you eat as well.  In addition, you are welcomed to fish in our lake while camping for trials.  We ask that you keep only what you will eat while you are here and observe catch and release for the rest so that others may enjoy the same experience.

Camping is permitted during trials and events held at Bonjon on a reservations only basis.  There are limited sites with electric available and plans for a future dump station and a campground restroom complete with showers.  Please visit the RV page for more information and a reservation form.  For more Information on Site Rental for your own events contact us by e-mail.  Training Memberships are available with discounts for current students.  The hours available and registration forms are located on the Class Schedule Page.
